A visit to Texas

It was finally time to take a trip to Austin to see Danny's parents and his brother's family.  we decided not to try to fly with Grant this time.  We didn't think that he would stay with us in the airport or in his seat on the airplane.  So, Danny took Andrew and Claire the week of July 4th.  Jan had lots of fun things planned.  First on the list was a trip to Sea World in San Antonio which is about 1.5 hours from Austin.  Jan got everyone matching red shirts so that they could easily be spotted.  Here is Andrew with his cousins Ronnie and Alex.

No visit to Sea World is complete without seeing the Shamu show.

Maria took Andrew and Claire on the Atlantis water roller coaster.  They loved it and like the fact that they didn't get very wet, but the people standing on the bridge did.

Marie also took the kids on a water raft ride where they all got wet.

Then they played in water for a while as it was really hot.

They saw a water show with water skiers and other water tricks.

The next stop was the Alamo.  Apparently it is smaller than you think it is.  It is sacred so you can't take pictures inside.

They also took a boat ride on the Riverwalk.

Dinner at a famous restaurant in Austin where musicians perform.  They are known for their catfish, Claire tried a bite but didn't really like it.

Pictures with Grandma and Grandpa.

Golf at a fancy computerized driving range.

Pictures of the kids in front of downtown Austin.

They took a cruise a lake in Austin to watch the bats fly out from under the bridge at dusk.

They estimate that there are over 2 million bats that fly out every night.

They also went to a minor league baseball game on July 4th.  Of course they got cotton candy and watched fireworks after the game.

On the flight home.  The kids did really well on the plane and had a great time in Texas with their cousins and grandparents.
