Summer adventure day 3 - Rexburg

The first day we were in Rexburg Natalie gave us the run down on the things to do.  The kids chose splash park as the first stop.  It is a park near Natalie's house that has a couple of mini water slides and water features for the kids to play in.  Natalie said we had to go early because it gets crowded - she was definitely right about that.  The girls decided to switch swim suits for the day and were playing on the trampoline while we all got ready.

Andrew and Claire thought this park was a lot of fun.  In addition to the small water slides there was a bucket that filled with water and periodically dumped it out all over.  Did I mention this park is free?

Grant and Mateo sat it out at first.  They were not interested in getting wet.

I tried to get all six in the picture, but no luck.  Mateo finally decided to play in the water with the big kids.

After about half and hour Grant decided he might like to try it out, so he did, and of course, it was fun.  Look at Mateo checking him out in the background.

Elaina found a ladybug and showed it to everyone there.  She really wanted me to take a picture of it.

Next, we walked across the park to free lunch.  The city of Rexburg gives out free lunch to all kids every week day.  Adults can't get one, but it was a great lunch for the kids.  When Ryan and Mandy lived in Boise they did it there too.  It is a program to make sure that kids don't go hungry.

After lunch the two boys found some mud to play in.

We went home and put Mateo and Grant down for naps.  I went to BYU-I when it was still Ricks College and I wanted to see what the campus was like now that it is a 4 year university.  Needless to say, it has changed a lot.  There are so many new buildings!  There is an enormous auditorium for meetings.  There is also a huge indoor gym.  I think there were 10 basketball courts inside.  There is also an elevated walking/running track.

Andrew, Claire, Elaina and Chris were all excited to do a lap around the top.  Andrew ran most of the way and beat everyone.  This would be a great way to get out energy in the winter.

Natalie wanted to show us the amazing gardens they have on campus.  Apparently they are mostly maintained by landscaping management students.  They had all sorts of different styles from Italian to French.  They were gorgeous!  Here the kids were enjoying the water fall and the lily pads.  Natalie went to get them some chocolate milk as a snack because it was really hot.

A picture by the school sign is a must.

Elaina and Claire wanted a picture of their own.

Later on we had pizza for dinner and had bike riding time.  Everyone always loves bike riding time.

Everyone was on a bike or a scooter, but they are all lined up so you can't see them all.

Look how excited Mateo is here.

The final adventure of the day was a movie in the park.  This was at the same park we were at earlier in the day.  First, we had promised a carousel ride to everyone.

We had gone with everyone to Walmart earlier in the day (sorry, no pictures of that) so we loaded up on candy and snacks for the movie.  The movie was a remake of Little Rascals which wasn't my favorite.  Grant and Mateo lost interest halfway through.  Grant decided it would be fun to dance in the front of every one's blankets which was also in front of the screen.  So he had to be taken to the back with Mateo.  Although the kids were exhausted, they still had plenty of energy come bed time.  Maybe it was all of the candy!  They had to get rest to be able to take on Bear World the next day.
