We got a phone call in the middle of June saying that Andrew made the "C" all star team for his division. While this was great for Andrew, it meant a whole new set of practices and games for us to juggle. They ended up having practices almost every day for two weeks. The manager really wanted to have Andrew be one of the pitchers for the team. To make it even more challenging, all of the games were played in Morgan Hill. Not only is it farther to drive but it was hotter down there as well. As always, Andrew was excited about a new jersey (with his name on it) and a blue all stars hat. In the first tournament they won their first two games but lost the next two, but that still qualified them to advance to the super regional.
Andrew pitched in all five of the games he played (he missed a game because he was in Austin). He struggled in some of the games and did really well in others. He even stuck it out when he wasn't doing really well.
Because he was a pitcher he didn't get to bat very much. In this at bat he got a walk, advanced to second on a wild pitch and eventually scored.
Overall, it was a good experience for Andrew as well as giving him some additional confidence when he moves up to the next division in the fall. He also got to go to watch some friends of his play on the A team which he enjoyed.
