Natalie heard that in the summertime Snowbird ski resort has a bunch of summer activities. We decided to check it out and thought that we would stay for a couple of hours. There was so much to do and the kids had such a good time that we stayed all day. Here they are the beginning of the day.
First up were the alpine slides. The kids were a bit worried about going too fast, but once they got the hang of it they liked it. However, they did not like lugging the sleds about 30' feet to the starting line.
Grant wasn't big enough to ride down on his own.
Next up was the Mountain Coaster. We had never heard of this, but I think this was my favorite ride of the day. It was pretty fast and it went through the trees for a beautiful view.
A picture as we were going up the hill.
I think that is Lisa on the other side coming down the hill with Kenzie.
This was the chair lift up to the alpine slides. There were parts of the day were we separated out a bit so that some of the kids could do things that the others didn't want to do. While I was waiting for the kids on the ropes course, Danny and Andrew were headed up to the alpine slides.
Next up was the ropes course. The kids did not really know what to expect on this one.
Lisa was the brave adult that went with them.
At first, it was fun and they all liked it...
Then they went higher up and started to get scared. They had to stop and wait at the corners and pull their tether rope above them. There was some crying by a few of them but we didn't lose anyone.
Next up was the mountain flyer. You sit on this double seat and it flies you backwards really fast and then you glide back down the same track. It is sort of like a zip line where you are sitting down.
Supposedly all of the great views were from the top of the mountain so we rode the tram up to the top. The top was 11,000 feet and had gorgeous views.
I can't remember why Andrew wasn't in this picture.
This is the view looking back toward the valley where my parents live.
This is the view on the other side of the mountain. We were quite surprised to see snow still!
Mateo, Chris, Elaina and Claire at the top.
Beautiful wildflowers.
Walking down the mountain.
We hiked down to the snow. You can see the tram stop up at the top of the hill. I am embarrassed to say that this was my kids first experience with snow. They loved it though! They were so happy.
They all played in the snow for quite a while.
There is a tunnel that goes to the other side of the mountain. It is used for skiers, but inside it shows the story of how they built it.
There was more snow on the other side! I love this picture of Claire and Grant.
There was a thunderstorm warning so we had to get down the mountain fast and we had to take the chair lift. Danny does not love heights and I was worried about the kids falling off, but they did great. It was a beautiful ride down the hill.
Everybody off!
Look at Grant hanging onto Danny before it was time to get off.
Next up was the bungee jump. They actually don't fall very far before the cord bounces them up. They loved this and because there was no line they did it several times in a row. The first pictures are Andrew and then Claire.
There was also a trampoline where they harness you and then raise you up a bit so that you can do tricks. Claire tried really hard to flip over.
Andrew and Chris on an old chair from a lift. Overall, we had a wonderful day. We expected to stay a couple of hours but stayed all day. We definitely want to go again!
