Claire had another great cabana season. She swam butterfly at several meets and started learning breaststroke. She didn't quite master it this season, but she worked really hard at it. This picture was taken at the first day of swim practice on spring break.
Claire wasn't nervous for meets anymore and worked hard to get faster. She also worked on her dives and starts.
Backstroke start at the first meet.
Waiting for the next race.
She had a rough start to the season and got a couple of disqualifications like this one in butterfly.
However, the backstroke times weren't improving. I'm still not sure why, but she did better later in the season.
More butterfly at meets...getting better.
Yes, some great times!!
In mid-July it was time for the finals. They were held this year in San Mateo. They did the 10 and under kids on one side and the 11 and up on the other side. Here she is waiting for her first event - butterfly.
She was in lane 1 and got 5th place.
Here was her last event - freestyle. She got 5th place in her heat.
Overall, she had a great season and improved so much over last year. She was much more confident with her strokes. She decided to try year round swimming after this.
