Saturday, July 12th was the Cabana Club Championship meet at the Santa Clara Swim Center. It is big pool with a lot of people there. There were five teams swimming and the meet was expected to last 5-6 hours. It was actually about 7.5 hours. I took Claire by myself because I didn't think that Grant or Andrew would last that long. You could purchase an ad for your child in the program, so I made this really quick. I didn't have a picture of her in her swim suit, so I used her school picture.
She was really nervous to swim because it was so hectic. I couldn't go to the block with her, so she was actually crying before her first event. I was able to stand right behind this fence though. By the time I made it to the other side of the pool after her back stroke event I lost her for a while. There are so may parents and kids there.
I didn't get any pictures of her freestyle event. Our team won the meet which was great. It was very exciting to see everyone cheering on the relay teams.
Here was a quick team picture that they took with the trophy.
Claire was able to improve both of her times by a lot at this meet! They have an app that tracks the kids times at each meet, which is very handy. I am so proud of Claire for trying out swimming for the first time. She was nervous and scared some of the time, but she had a great season. She says that she will swim again next summer.
