Last day at Yellowstone

Ryan and Mandy had gone to a place called the boiling river on Monday that we wanted to see as well, so my mom set out with us to see some things that we hadn't been to yet.  We finally got a picture in front of the sign.

We drove to the north entrance and through the Roosevelt Arch.  This was the first major entrance into the part and was constructed in 1903.  The inscription is from the Act that made Yellowstone a National Park.

On the way to the river, we stopped at this cool sign.

To get to the boiling river you have to hike almost a mile which Grant did not love.  This place is where the water from underground pools flows into the Gardner River and creates these warm pools at the river's edge.  The water was really warm and you had to be careful not to touch the really hot water.

On our way back through Mammoth Hot Springs we saw lots of elk just hanging out on the grass.

We decided to take the northern route back and stopped at this gorgeous overlook of the Yellowstone River.  The platform was sort of scary because it was straight down the cliff from the edge.

We drove through some beautiful plateaus to get to Tower Falls.  We didn't go to any of these places last summer so it was nice to see them.  By this point everyone was tired and hungry.  We didn't realize how windy the road was on the way back.  Everyone was feeling a bit woozy but when we made it back to an area that we could pull over Grant had to get out of the car.  He was really car sick and crying.  Plus we were over 9,000 feet elevation.  We couldn't get home fast enough.
