If birthdays only occurred on weekends it would make things so much easier! Grant's birthday fell on a Tuesday this year. It was challenging because that is one of the nights that Claire has soccer practice. Since I am such an awesome mom, I didn't have a chance to make a cake or cupcakes, so after I picked up Grant from daycare we went to Nob Hill and I let him pick out his own cake. Then I bought some M&Ms and let Grant decorate his own cake. He loved doing it.
Grant's friend Julia brought over some very colorful donuts for his birthday. The kids actually wanted these as dessert and not the cake.
Grant was thrilled to open his presents. We had wrapped them the night before and when he saw them in the morning he wanted to open them right away.
He got some fun trucks and cars and wanted to open and play with all of them at the same time.
At daycare they painted a banner for him and wrote him cute notes. It is now hanging in our family room and may be there for quite sometime.
Finally it was time to blow out the candles.
Finally a picture with me!
At daycare they do a daily board of what they had for snack, books they read and activities they did. Grant got to pick the books for the day. He picked, Down by the Station, The Truck book, and Goodnight Construction site. See a theme? He loved celebrating with his friends at Julie's house.
A couple of days later he had his 3 year old check up. He is quite healthy at 38 lbs, 12 oz. He is 3'5" tall and is at the top of the height charts. He did great at the doctor and even did the nasal flu shot without crying. The next thing to work on is potty training. He is not at all interested. Grant is such a fun loving boy. He loves anything involving trains, trucks, fire trucks, garbage trucks, race cars, etc. He often refers to himself in third person, for example, "When it is Grant's turn?" We love his curly hair, but it is quite thick and sticks up straight when he wakes up in the morning. I think that Grant wishes that he was older and could do all of the things that Andrew and Claire are doing. I think we will keep him small though.
