Fall soccer for Claire

Although Claire played soccer last fall she wasn't too excited to play this fall.  She likes soccer but she doesn't love it.  We found out that one of our friends from church would be coaching and talked her into playing on the team.  It has turned out to be really good because she knows several of the players on her team from school or church.  Danny is the assistant coach for the team and I think that she likes that as well.  I think that she may enjoy practice more than the games. Here she is on the morning of her first game.  She wanted one of those ribbons with the soccer balls on them, which we later got, but we didn't have it the first day.

Claire is not an aggressive player at all.  She much prefers to be chatting at half field or...

...waiting for the ball to be kicked right to her. She runs around near the ball but doesn't get right in the pack to try to get the ball.

Everyone likes the parent's tunnel at the end of the game.

Happy the game is over and it is time for treats.

Andrew goes to practice and "helps".  He mostly kicks the soccer ball to the coaches daughter, but he does help here and there.  They were able to get him an assistant coach's shirt.

Meanwhile, Grant hangs out with me on the side lines.  He eats the snacks I bring him in the first five minutes of the game.  He also likes to pick the yellow weed flowers and give them to me as a gift.

At Claire's next game she did a lot of running.

Which meant that she needed to do a lot of resting.

She how excited she is here to run?

Time to come into the game.  By the way, they are the Cheetahs.

There is also time to wiggle your loose teeth during the game.

Half time snacks are also a very exciting time.

In the last game, Claire went in at goalie for a few minutes at the end of the first half.  She really wanted to play goalie which surprised me because she is scared of the ball.  I think she wanted to wear the special shirt.  She is definitely getting better and I hope that she keeps playing.
