The first day of school

School started for us on August 20th.  It has been crazy ever since then getting back into a routine so I am just now getting to posting this.  The Kindergarten classes had a little open house the Friday before school started.  Claire was excited about it until we got there.  First we looked to see who her teacher is this year and her name is Mrs. Kim.  We also learned that she was not going to be in Elaina's class or class with her friend Ava.  As you can see by this picture, she is just thrilled to be there.  She is pointing to her cubby where she is supposed to put her backpack.

She got to see where her seat was going to be.

A picture with Mrs. Kim.  Claire was really shy and would barely speak to her.  She warmed up after a bit, but at least she didn't cry. I think she was just taking it all in.

Finally it was time for the big day.  We carefully chose clothes.  She was not happy to learn that she can't wear flip flops or open toed shoes to school.  She lives in those, so wearing sock and shoes will be a big adjustment. I got Claire and Andrew to pose with "first day of school signs".

And a group shot!

Then we were off to Grandma's house for some more pictures with cousins.  Chris is also excited to go to school, but his preschool doesn't start for a few weeks.

Posing in front of the school.  This is the school that I went to when I was in elementary school.

Here is Andrew leaving class on the first day.

We took our annual trip to frozen yogurt after dinner.  We saw Claire's preschool teacher there, so Claire go to tell her about her first day.  She loves Mrs. Beesley so it was nice for Claire to talk to her.

At the end of the week we already had some great work.  Andrew got 100% on his spelling test.

Claire had to quickly master the upper case letter K.  Believe it or not there is another Claire in her class!

Now we are deep in to homework for Andrew, soccer for Claire and baseball for Andrew.  I have a feeling that the time between now and Christmas is going to fly by.
