Last Saturday we had a free day (yipee!) and Andrew really wanted to go to Happy Hollow since we hadn't been there in some time. He had been looking through some old pictures and wanted to ride the roller coaster again. It was supposed to be hot, so I was little worried, but there was a lot of shade there. We got there just in time for an animal meet and greet. We learned about the tortoise and the kids could touch it. Only Andrew would go near it though.
We decided to do the rides first. Andrew and Claire rode the merry go round. Grant has an aversion to merry go rounds for some reason, so he sat this one out.
Then it was on to the roller coaster that Andrew had been looking forward to. He decided to ride alone in the back. Grant really liked watching the "train" go by.
The next pass was with their arms up!
We went on a couple of rides and saw the puppet show and then we had lunch. Grant was trying to get Claire to give him a sip of the Icee. It was really cute to watch them together.
Andrew tried the Frog Hopper for the first time and loved it. I think he went 5 or 6 more times.
Luckily there was ride close by that Grant and Claire could ride while Andrew was doing repeats on the Frog Hopper. Grant rode this ride by himself! He didn't cry and seemed to really like it. He even rode it multiple times.
Claire wanted to wait to get a fire truck, mostly because they have a really loud bell that the kids can ring, so Grant rode around again.
On the way to the zoo Andrew and Claire wanted to ride the roller coaster by themselves. They were so excited to be able to do this. It looks like they had a great time.
Andrew and Claire showed Grant how to get around the maze before we headed over to the zoo.
It was pretty warm and the kids were tired by the time we got to the zoo, so we didn't spend too long there. It was a great outing that wasn't too far away. We were still able to get some things done around the house and do a little bit of back to school shopping.
