We have been deep into swim lessons for the past month. Up first was Claire. We are so fortunate to have some talented ladies at church who teach swim lessons during the summer. Claire and Elaina got to go for almost 3 weeks and loved it. A big thanks to Natalie for taking the two girls to class while watching Grant and Chris. This was the highlight of Claire's day.
Claire has perfected the back float.
What made the class so fun was that she got to see all of her friends from church and/or preschool at swim lessons.
The kick board was a new thing for her, but she liked the fact that she got to use mine.
Now for the front float. Claire's teacher told me that she could swim if she just believed that she could do it. She said that she is very close.
Apparently after each lesson the girls layout their towels on the concrete and lay in the sun for a while to get warm. What a life!
They worked on all sorts of things, including kicking with the kick board while his face was in the water so that he could learn better breathing technique.
He was most excited to learn how to dive. He was very proud that he was the only one in his class to do the dive correctly. He practiced over and over. We signed Claire and Elaina up for more lessons in hopes that we can get them swimming by themselves this summer. We'll see, but for now they have both made great progress. We went swimming at the club a few weeks ago and Andrew loves to jump off the diving board and can swim across the pool by himself. I am trying to convince him to join the swim team next summer.
Andrew knows how to swim, but I wanted him to work on his technique a bit, so we signed him up for lessons at the high school. It is surreal being there sometimes, because I swam in so many meets there and now I am bringing my son there. It doesn't seem like it has been that long, but it has.

It was a fun couple weeks seeing your kids each day at the pool. I got to play with Chris and sometimes Grant while Natalie helped the girls and Nolan into the pool. Andrew is an awesome swimmer. Jaylin wants to do swim team next year too. We'll see!
