Recycle Center

Andrew's 5th grade class collected cans and plastic bottles and recycled them for money.  They would then use the money to purchase items for an in class auction.  The class earned fake money by completing jobs during class, turning in homework and being well behaved.  We got into the habit of collecting the recyclables instead of putting them on the curb every week.  We finally had about 8 bags that were littering the side of the house so we took the opportunity to take them to the recycle center. First we loaded the bags onto a cart.

Then we had to load the cans on the conveyor belt.

The plastic bottles were dumped into a gondola.  They weigh both and give you  a receipt.

Then you take the receipt to a window and they give you a ticket to put in to the atm.

We got $21 and change for essentially just collecting the cans and bottles.  Easy money!
