Giant's Day

We have a friend who works for Comerica Bank.  Every year they co-host an event for the VC community. Last year Danny and Andrew went, but this year we all decided to go.  This event is held at AT&T Park and is unique because you get to spend a day down on the baseball field and the surrounding areas.  It was a really fun day at the park.  When we got there we got a Giants fleece blanket.  We signed up to hit at home plate and then we visited the visitors dugout.  They had face painting there and lots of snacks like the long licorice ropes.  Danny and Andrew were able to hit in the batting cages under the dugout.

We saw Lou Seal and only Andrew wanted to take a picture with him.  Claire and Grant were terrified.

Andrew and Danny fielded balls while I took Claire and Grant to a bounce house and to play in the outfield.

They rand around with their friends Julia and Everett.

The grass, of course, was amazing.

They had a reptile petting zoo.  There were also lizards and spiders in cages that we looked at.

They had a running of the bases for all of the kids.  They went around 2 or 3 times.

I tried again to take a picture with Lou Seal.  Look how far behind me Claire is standing.

Andrew and I took a tour of the visitor's locker room, the hall of fame area, and the press box.  this picture is from the press box - a pretty great view.

Next, it was our turn to bat.  Andrew went first.  The balls are thrown through a pitching machine.

Then they put your name up on the Jumbotron and take your picture.  I think that the back drop looks fake, but it is real!

Next up was Danny.

Even I hit!  They give you 3 or 4 chances.  We were all able to hit the ball.

Hanging out in the stands.

Playing catch on the field.  I am not sure what Grant is doing here.

Three little friends in the stands.

Hanging out with Grant down on the field.  They had people making balloon shapes and they kept popping on the grass, so we had to go a few times.  Grant kept getting swords.

Claire got SF in face paint.

Claire got a dog balloon.

Replacement sword #3.

They also had the World Series trophies out to view.

You could get up close and personal with them.

Andrew went up to the Splash Landing.

Andrew did not want to leave, but it was time to go, so he played catch for a little while longer.

We took one last picture outside and headed home.  The kids were tired, but we had a great day.  Plus they had extra blankets left over, so each of the kids got one.
