The pumpkin patch

We had a rare fall day last Saturday where Claire didn't have a soccer game and Andrew's baseball game was at 9:00 am.  That left most of the day open!  We decided to take the opportunity and go to the pumpkin patch.  It was the middle of the day and quite warm, so we didn't get the best pictures.  We started with a hay ride.  Danny was instantly too hot and put on Claire's Hello Kitty hat.  Grant was mesmerized with the tractor the whole time and barely moved the whole time.

Nope, still not going to get a picture with all three of them looking.

Claire already won a pumpkin at her school's harvest festival and got one on her field trip to another pumpkin patch at school, but she wanted another one.  She said she would pick a small one, but this wasn't what she ended up with.

Grant tried his hand at lifting the pumpkins, with no luck.

And then he figured out that the could roll them.

Andrew is on the hunt for the perfect pumpkin.

He finally found one and the rule was that they had to be able to put it in the wheelbarrow, but Andrew couldn't quite lift his, so Danny helped out.

Andrew did his best at lifting Claire's pumpkin though.  He finally got it in the wheelbarrow without help.

There were lots of cool shapes and colors of pumpkins.

One last group shot, maybe?  Nope.

I did kind of get Grant to pose with his pumpkin though.  He likes the fact that it is round like a ball and can be thrown.  It is also fun to bring a pumpkin along with us for car rides.  It went to church with us last week.

We've still got to figure out when we can carve them.  Andrew's pumpkin is pretty big, so there will be a lot of guts to pull out.  Luckily that is Danny's specialty!
