On their way back from Hawaii, Danny's parents stayed with us for a week so that they could be here for Andrew's baptism. Since Monday was Memorial Day we decided to head to Gilroy Gardens. It was going to be Grant's first visit. Unfortunately, Danny was sick so he didn't come with us. Ron and Andrew went on the paddle boats first and the rest of us headed to the train before the line got too long. Grant seemed excited about riding the train, but he quickly decided that he didn't like the whistle. It probably didn't help that we were sitting in the first car behind the engine and the whistle.
Grant was too short to ride this one by itself. Claire took a turn though. I remember the first time she rode this ride that she screamed the whole time.
Grant and Grandma looking on.
Next up was the carousel. Grant didn't like this one either so he rode on one of the benches with Jan.
Andrew wanted to ride the roller coaster, so I rode one time with him and the next time he rode by himself. I had the camera on the wrong setting so the pictures were blurry.
We tried to get Grant to ride in these cars, but he seemed to be done with the rides.
So at the next ride we waited and waited for the others and he got bored. So he pushed the stroller around, nearly missing people, so then I took him for a walk.
But then he escaped in the enclosed garden and refused to move. He was tired at this point.
But then finally we saw Ron, Andrew and Claire on the monorail. They are behind the tree here, but what a cool tree!
As is tradition we had ice cream on the way out.
But Grant didn't even make it to the car. He fell asleep in the stroller with his juice.
A fun day for everyone! I hoped that Grant would transfer from the stroller and keep sleeping but no such luck. He woke up and never went back to sleep, not even when we got home. But Andrew, Claire and Grandpa all fell asleep in the car on the way home. It was fun to spend time with Grandma and Grandpa.
